Flood risk in Oxford
Oxford has a long and well-known history of flooding where the Thames (locally the Isis) and the Cherwell spread across a wide, low-gradient floodplain. Areas such as Osney, New Hinksey and Botley flood recurrently — notably in 2007 and 2014 — which is why the Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme was developed. Many sites across west and south Oxford sit in Flood Zone 2, 3a or the functional floodplain (3b), so the FRA and, critically, the Sequential Test and floodplain compensation are often the make-or-break issues.

When Do You Need a Flood Risk Assessment in Oxford?
